Welcome to Feeding Talk. I am an independent Speech and Language therapist offering a high quality service to you and your child. I work closely with parents, families and other professionals to help preschool children with speech, language, communication and/or feeding difficulties.
I work with children who have:
- Physical and / or sensory feeding, eating and drinking difficulties
- Swallowing difficulties
- Eating/drinking difficulties related to social communication difficulties/autistic spectrum disorder
- Learning difficulties/developmental delay that impacts on communication/language development
- Language delay/disorder
- Speech sound difficulties
- Social communication difficulties and autistic spectrum disorder
- Word-finding and/or memory difficulties
- Low tech Alternative and Augmentative communication (e.g. Makaton signs, PECS, communication boards/books)
How I can help:
- Helping each child reach their full potential though effective therapy, positive outcomes and continuity of care
- Taking a holistic approach to assessment and therapy
- Recognising the importance of early experiences (e.g. traumatic birth, early medical interventions) and the impact this has on development, wellbeing and the wider family
- Developing functional skills alongside building developmental skills
- Recognising every child is unique
- Using a child’s strengths to support them in working on areas of need/ difficulty
